The classic Christmas tale of greed, cold-heartedness, and redemption unfolds in this allegory set in Victorian England. The self-centered Scrooge is a miserly accountant who begrudges any pity or assistance to those in need until he is visited by the ghost of his deceased partner. Like Scrooge, he was greedy and selfish in life, but is now forced to wander aimlessly, carrying the heavy chains that symbolize the weight of those attitudes. He warns Scrooge that three Christmas spirits will visit him in one night to force him to confront the consequences of his actions for himself and others. That haunting experience does the trick as Scrooge learns the errors of his way and is transformed. He awakens Christmas Day a changed man, much to the shock of his neighbors, family, and overworked employee.
