Book Links are individual literature units that combine real books with suggested activities. Each packet includes the book and a pocket folder that contains teaching directions, suggested multi-sensory activities, and blackline reproducibles. The goal is to provide guided experience in reading, enjoying, and analyzing real books. Written from a Christian perspective, if focuses on scriptural applications that help build character and discernment. Whenever possible, connections are made to other subject areas. For use with BJUP's Reading 2.
The story line:It takes courage to leave a familiar town, a comfortable homestead, personal belongings, and old friends. It takes courage to live in a small wagon, traveling barely a hundred miles a week through Indian territory. But it takes a special, out-of-the-ordinary courage to give up the dearest treasure of the heart. This is the story of Caroline Putnam, a New Hampshire girl who has to find out if she has the true spirit of a pioneer.
