The first half of the Teacher's Guide lays out a schedule for teaching the 30 lessons across a 34-week academic year. This schedule includes the theme, craft ideas, activity idea, Bible story, Bible verse, and special snack ideas. The second half of the guide is a page-by-page guide to the Student Activity Book and component pieces of the program. It includes how to introduce the worksheet to the child. Reduced student pages show the correct answer.
The Appendices include a Student Evaluation Form (a type of Kindergarten readiness checklist), alphabet charts and cards that are black-and-white reproducibles, a number line, and a Preschool Progress Report that can be used for record-keeping. The alphabet charts and cards include both upper- and lower-case manuscript letters. The back of the alphabet picture cards have a short sentence that shows you how to teach the sound.
The preschool curriculum follows CLP's relaxed yet structured approach to training. The program covers: pre-reading skills such as visual discrimination and phonemic awareness (hearing sounds); pre-math skills such as recognizing similarities and differences and counting objects; pre-penmanship skills such as holding a pencil and drawing a line; fine motor skills such as cutting and pasting; following directions; and listening.
There are 30 lessons in the program, although the Teacher's Guide includes a plan to use the weekly lessons in a 34-week academic year.
