CLP's full-color readers combine history and reading practice. This level features the exploration and settlement of the New World through a series of informative stories and poems. Children learn about the people and events of colonial America as well as the struggle for independence. They will be introduced to such figures as Christopher Columbus, LaSalle, minute men, Jonathan Edwards, Betsy Ross, and Benjamin Franklin.
Each story includes basic comprehension questions and vocabulary words. In some cases, extension activities are suggested.
A Kit is available that contains all the components of the reading program, including the Reader, Answer Key, and Tests.
