This unique workbook helps students cement grammar and writing skills by editing paragraphs, finding various mistakes. Students learn and review grammar as they search for the errors in these exciting stories.
A complete glossary of writing skills is included as well as vocabulary-building exercises. Volume 1 contains two separate stories with a total of 90 lessons: "A Lesson in History" and "Amazing Facts.". The stories continue across several lessons. The incorrect version is printed in dark block, followed by the correct version for the teacher with the number of corrections marked.
Explanations of the corrections and the corresponding grammar rules are next to the exercise. The teacher will need to copy the exercises to another sheet or on the board; separate student books can be purchased that have only the incorrect version, saving valuable time for the teacher.
Throughout the versions that need to be edited are circled words that direct the students to find a synonym, thus improving vocabulary and modeling how to make writing more interesting.
The exercises are designed for 7th-9th grade practice or 10th-12th grade review.
