This intermediate level science course combines grade-level content with a user-friendly, interactive design that works for all types of students. Each chapter begins with a pre-reading activity that helps students organize their ideas and alerts them to key concepts. Also included are learning objectives, key terms, and a reading check to cement learning.
The Set includes the hardcover Student Text, Homeschool Parent Guide CD-ROM, and Chapter Resources CD-ROM. The CD’s include daily lesson plans, teaching suggestions, answer keys, and additional teaching materials.
There are 8 units that cover: living things; cells; heredity, evolution, and classification; simple organisms, fungi, and plants; animals; ecology; human body systems; and health. Note: the chapter on evolution assumes that the old earth theory is fact and treats the concept of evolution as fact, although it refers to theories for it application. It does not address any other theory of creation and development. It does not make the distinction between micro-evolution (adaptation) and macro-evolution (changes from one species to another).
The Student Textbooks in this series that Pearson Learning has released to Homeschoolers contains online supplemental information and activities scattered throughout the textbook. To date, Pearson has not figured out how they are going to release the access codes in a way that is feasible for the homeschooling market. We have opted to still carry this series since the online resources are supplemental and the course content is contained in the Homeschool Bundle you receive.
