This is the Teacher's Guide for Horizons 6th grade health program. The Teacher’s Guide consists of 62 step-by-step lessons with teaching objectives, lesson overviews, a materials list, answer keys, and related activities.A Student Textbook and Student Workbook are available separately.
The focus of this level is teaching students how to be healthy inside and out. The major themes are building relationships, choosing healthy lifestyles, reviewing body systems, diseases, and understanding what is unique about each person.
The program is designed to be taught 2 to 3 days per week.
Topics that may be controversial are alcoholism, sexually transmitted diseases, HIV, chemical dependency, steroids, and eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia. However, all of these topics are presented from a biblical foundation.
