The Teacher's Guide gives teaching tips, background information, and teaching objectives for the lessons in the student's workbook (sold separately).
The 160 lessons cover 32 weeks of instruction. The 5th grade level is designed to give students practice in refining their penmanship using documents from history.
On the first day, students practice writing new words and phrases from the chosen parable as well as definitions of advanced words. On day two, students demonstrate their comprehension of the parable by answering questions about the text, all while practicing penmanship. On day three, students practice a portion in manuscript, to keep skills current. On day four, students practice writing (in cursive) the parable in preparation for writing it on a special page provided for the fifth day.
