This is the teacher's guide for Horizons 3rd grade spelling and vocabulary program. The Teacher’s Guide includes scheduling information, scope and sequence, how to use the program, teaching tips, suggested activities, extended activities, and reduced student pages with answers.
This level (generally grade 3) continues to develop spelling and vocabulary skills through phonetic analysis and handwriting practice. The spelling lists cover consonant blends, long and short vowels, silent endings, -ing endings, plurals, homonyms, irregular verb tenses, prefixes, suffixes, contractions, compound words, and multi-syllable words.
The program consists of 160 lessons for a 32-week academic year. There is a student book and student dictionary sold separately.
