This innovative series is designed to help intermediate and high school students master basic key concepts in science through cartoon characters, images, and guided worksheets. The standards-based learning objectives are keyed to typical standardized tests.
Each lesson begins with a “warm-up” to access what the student already knows and to ensure understanding of the vocabulary involved. A source cartoon then explains the critical concepts. A variety of activity sheets are used to reinforce the learning. These include: hands-on activities, study questions, puzzles, practice problems, background articles, and graphic organizers that help students sort and synthesize main ideas. Quizzes and answer keys included.
Introducing Cells – covers discovering cells, the function and role of cells, the hierarchy of life (cells, tissues, organs, systems), characteristics of cells, characteristics of living things, the amoeba, and cell theory.
