This is the separate test packet for Walch's basic introductory algebra course for students who will not need to take algebra in college The Test Pack includes a pre-test, unit tests, post-test, answer key, and test-taking tips.
This can be considered a basic, introductory course in algebra for students who will not need algebra in college or for technical training. The nature of algebra is that it takes basic math concepts and applies them to a variety of topics. The more applications that are studied, the more likely it is that the student will master the algebraic concepts and principles. This is why most algebra courses are so intensive.
Since this program assumes students will not need to master such extensive topics, only the bare minimum is covered to give the student a basic introduction to algebra. Many of the standard topics of algebra are presented, just not in as much detail or with as much practice involved.
Topics covered in the textbook (sold separately) are: positive and negative numbers, operations with signed numbers, algebra expressions and terms, algebraic equations, equalities and inequalities, graphing linear equations, coordinate plane, slope, polynomial operations, factoring, and introduction to quadratic equations and formula. The appendix reviews math rules and formulas, and includes a Table of Squares and Square Roots.
