This series assumes students have learned the basics of the language and are now ready to integrate all the language arts skills for mastery. The program is divided into an easy-to-follow three-part chapter organization: (1) grammar, usage, and mechanics; (2) the writing process; and (3) academic and workplace skills, including speaking and business writing. The focus is on meaningful grammar applications with grade-appropriate practice, often with real-world examples.
The program consists of a hardcover Student Handbook (textbook) and the hardcover Teacher’s Edition. The Teacher’s Edition has reduced student pages with answers, objectives, teaching tips, and different options for lesson planning. The program also includes web codes for direct access to online videos, quizzes, tests, and other materials.
Part One covers: the writing process, sentence & paragraph construction, structure and style, and different types of writing (such as narration, exposition, persuasion, and research). Part Two covers the eight parts of speech, sentence parts, phrases and clauses, effective sentences, agreement, modifiers, and punctuation and capitalization. Part Three covers speaking, listening, representing, vocabulary, spelling, reading skills, study skills, and test-taking skills.
