Here’s a unique way to reinforce basic math concepts and skills – by solving over 400 mini-mysteries! Each chapter focuses on one area such as whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percents. The basic concepts involved are reviewed and then a variety of short “cases” are presented for the student to solve. This combines problem-solving, critical thinking skills, and arithmetic practice to develop basic understanding.
For example, in the geometry section, Case G-46 gives a clue that the answer is one of the figures below. Clue 2 explains that it has fewer than 5 sides, Clue 3 says it has no right angles. The student detective must then figure out which figure is the answer.
The answers are in the front of the book; a glossary of terms is included in the back of the book.
